ECU Remapping Services

Increasingly popular with rising fuel prices, we are able to recalibrate the ECU data to improve fuel efficiency. The increase in torque will allow less gear changes and accelerator pedal movement thus resulting in improved MPG and drivability.

Stage 1 tuning is designed for an unmodified vehicle with no hardware upgrades. A Stage 1 Remap increases power and torque while also improving fuel efficiency removing flat spots and giving a more responsive drive without compromising reliability.

Stage 2 tuning Bigger increase in power and torque than a Stage 1 Remap, efficiency will still improve but not as dramatically as a Stage 1 Tune. Removes flat spots and gives a more responsive drive without compromising reliability.

We offer the very best vehicle ECU remapping and car tuning service

What is Vehicle Remapping?

Many modern cars are now fitted with an ECU (Engine Control Unit), this is essentially the brains or computer of the car and is there to control how the engine works. It receives information from sensor and actuators that work to manage the engine.

When cars are manufactured, the ECU’s are all set to the same standard manufactures settings; there is nothing wrong with this because the cars are shipped all over the world and need some basic settings to be able to work well in different climates also many countries have different laws and restrictions for the road along with different types of fuel.

When One Stop Electronics remaps an engine, they are making the ECU respond in a way that is bespoke to the driver, so if you tow a caravan, want improved fuel efficiency or a bit more bhp, One Stop Electronics can produce a new software upgrade for your ECU.

To remap an engine, modifications are made to the default ECU software manufactures settings.

How does Remapping work?

A remap is applied to a vehicles ECU software and overwrites the original (stock) software and reprogrammed to optimise the vehicles overall performance. Hey! That’s as far as I go if you want to learn more please contact One Stop Electronics details below.

There are 2 types of engine remapping – OBD tuning & Bench tuning.

OBD Tuning – This is a quick and efficient way; software is read from the ECU and the tuned/modified software is plugged into the vehicles serial port or On-board Diagnostic Port (OBD port) which will then overwrite the factory standard engine map with the newer version to enhance the performance as the driver desires.

OBD Tuning through the OBD Port direct in the vehicle

Bench Tuning (sometimes also known as Chip Tuning) – This was the original way to remap a vehicle prior to vehicles having an OBD port. The ECU would be removed from the vehicle and opened to access the circuit board where the work is carried out on the bench manually and then replaced in the vehicle. Chip tuning is being used less now since 1996 when OBD remapping took its place.

What benefits can be made through remapping?

Several goals can be achieved by remapping your vehicle, some examples are –

  • Increased torque and power output from the engine – power delivery will be smoother making it a much safer drive and will make it much easier and smoother to carry out overtaking manoeuvers
  • Reduced fuel consumption – during normal driving it can be noticed that the MPG is much better, this allowing you to save money by not refuelling as often
  • Reduced emissions – better MPG will also reduce your carbon footprint
  • Modify speed limiters

How do you know if remapping will suit your vehicle?

One Stop Electronics has access to  70 collective years’ worth of automotive experience. Most importantly I suppose is the simple fact that everything on a car is measurable and all our custom maps have been tested on a 3000 bhp rolling road, data loggers and emissions testers so we know exactly the outcome that is going to be achieved.

However, if you’re not sure this is right for you, remember One Stop Electronics offer a 30-day Money Back guarantee, so now you can try before you buy. Have the remap put on your vehicle and try it out, if you don’t like it (we’re sure you will though) we can take the remap off and set the vehicle back to the factory standard.
